movie to watch The King of Kong A [Censored] Of Quarters on dvd Jan 29

I searched the forums during my latest suspension for this title and came up empty, although I know GameSpot and certain posters have seen it because of certain references I've seen. :evil:For those who haven't been able to see it, it's for:1. Miyamoto fans: the movie is about retro gamers who worship Miyamoto's first game, Donkey Kong, and about their showdown at the huge arcade FunSpot in New Hampshire.2. Human endurance fans: Before becoming obsessed with Donkey Kong, Billy Mitchell was obsessed with Pac-Man and getting through the 256th screen half of which is completely covered by programming code; he had to figure out where to move Pac-Man blindly beneath the code while being chased by the ghosts at the highest difficulty; he had to get through all 255 screens to get back to this screen when he died. He did this about 200-300 times.3. George Lucas fans: because of the Return of the Jedi references that fly during fights.4. Killscreen fans!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMJZ-_bJKdIThe real-life gamers:Steve WiebeCinderella Story. Outta nowhere. Had the record in his grasp but his son (seen below) had a toilet trainingincident and wouldn't stop yelling, ''Daddy, [censored]''; former greenskeeper about to become Masters champion.Billy Mitch-Mullet and Walter DayThe Guinness Book of World Records keeps video game records from Twin Galaxies' website, which is run by the homeless man in the referee shirt below, Walter Day, who I consider a genius. Next to him is Billy. One of the jokes of the film is that Billy's mullet, clothing, vocabulary, and posse, haven't left the 1980's. (He runs a restaurant in Florida, Rickey's, which is where he had access to arcade games from an early age.)A positive movie for gamers.Who else has seen it?movie to watch The King of Kong A [Censored] Of Quarters on dvd Jan 29
I haven't seen it, but I've heard good things about it. I'll probably check it out on DVD.movie to watch The King of Kong A [Censored] Of Quarters on dvd Jan 29
It is currently being remade with Hollywood actors even though it just came out, and it didn't open in a lot of areas. I don't know which actors wanted it, although I read Ben Stiller as Billy Mitchell.
that movie is MADE of awesome. seriously rare thing to see, such a great film
ive never even heard of it, but i am definitely interested now. thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the kind words. The thought might come up why hasn't Xbox Live Arcade and the Virtual Console killed this activity. They're real people, and they post at the Twin Galaxies forums. I actually learned a lot about our hobby from them, but you have to be careful because they take it too far. If it wasn't in your theaters, Hollywood bought the story and actors are remaking it. :)

Hi! I recently installed Kingdoms on my pc. The problem is, that now i can only play these 4 new campaigns, but i cant play the old Medieval2 game. Please help! I'm desperate!!!!! PM please! Thanx.Plz help with Medieval2 total war Kingdoms
you need to uninstall this expension in order to play the old game

10 games or things in a game that make you ANGRY!

10. FEAR, everybody said this game was scary? Last time I take adive from 5 year olds. It was a good game for a shooter but I only got it cause people said how ''scary'' it was.9. Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare on expert(no fighting in the war room level) after about 20 tries I got into the bomb control room and I pressed the button with 5 seconds left and I failed. I almost broke my tv.8. Superman Returns, the game just repeaed itself to be longer7.Madden 08, losing the super bowl on all-madden ''F***********************************************!''6. Max Payne, the part where your chasing the guy and you have to jump onto a subway car. That part took me at least a month anda couple of controllers too.5. Half-Life 2:Episode 2's ending, okay Valve I'm starting to get sick of these cliff-hangers.4.Guitar Hero 3, being stuck on medium isn't that fun3. Land of the Dead, I hope god forgives me for playing it. Easily one of the worst shooters for the Xbox2.Assassins Creed, I forgot that you could use benches to hide when you were running away from the Templars so it got very frustrating always trying to get onto the roof hut things or to a pile of hay.1.Dead Rising, The main reason I didn't like this game is beacsue of the save system. You think they would've been able to have a checkpoint or auto-save everytime you enter an area or boss fight but NO! If you die you have to start all the way back up in the security room or a bathroomWhats yours?10 games or things in a game that make you ANGRY!
Lost Planet: ME vs 20 soldiers 2 v suits then 2 bugs roll in and what do they do? They stand side by side with the soldiers and attack me.....................10 games or things in a game that make you ANGRY!
I cant think of 10Football Manager - Being 4 - 0 up half time, telling my players to 'not get complacent' and losing 5 - 4.Football Manager - Having 40 shots, 20 on target while they have like 2 on target and you lose 2 - 1FIFA 08 - Kicking a noobs ass online, only for him to disconnect and you dont get the win (sometimes I get a loss!)Call of Duty 4 - On Veteran. When you go past a point you normally get a checkpoint....and you don't. ''Oh for ****s sake' Is my catchphase
One thing are collectible items in games. I hate playing with gamepad in my one hand and sollution in the other but those games live me no choice. For example: gta sa: it had collectible horseshoes, ostriges, tags and pictures. Just c'mon it's way too much. Finishing this game with printed maps took me about 90 hours. Without them it would be something like 200.
1. Resident Evil : Having a freakin' shotgun and not being able to blow down the doors.
2. Halo : Having a rocket launcher, not being able to get through certain doors.
3. Halo : Having things in the game, that you can't get through. And/or Do nothing.

About doors:Black: You need explosives or a shotgun to open any door. Doesn't he have hands?Pariah: I wander around a room for hours trying to find a switch, ledge, something... only to later realise a bug in the game prevented some soldiers from breaching a locked door.
i can i only think of one thingthat makes me REALLY ANGRY. playing on the last level(or any level for that matter) on a REALLY hard game that has no checkpoints and dying right before the end of the level then starting at the beginnng. whenever this kind of thing happens i get really ticked off. and actually theres one more thing that makes me angry. When you are playing a game and you get really far but you forget to save and the game freezes for whatever reason (worn out disc, scratches etc.) that makes me angry as well and i usually stop playing for a while and let off some steam.
Any game that won't let me skip cutscenes or speed up text.
I don't know if I get that angry over it...but I don't like having to find health packs...in so many of todays games you just find some cover and your health replenishes...I hate having to look for health packs all the time.....
Checkpoints. Checkpoints make me angry. Why do we have to replay half the level each time we die? Developers: take one more month in development and make a quicksave option, for goodness sake. Wait, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna code a quicksave algorithm and make it open source so you can copy and paste it into your game.
Although I could handle this in old games, there is absolutely no reason why this inconvenience should be in todays games. Death by falling in water! I'm looking at you Assassin's Creed!
Any game that won't let me skip cutscenes or speed up text.
The only thing that pisses me off more is if they put that crap before a ridiculously hard boss, or worse, a whole slew of 'em.
I get frustrated when you have to fight a boss, then you weaken him and he sends out some minions and backs off. You fight the minions and they take some of your health, then you have to fight the boss again. Some games can pull this off, but others simply mess it up/make it frustrating.2. Also, in a game like MECHASSAULT when you have to shoot your opponent like hundreds of times and you barely do any damage.
Any game that won't let me skip cutscenes or speed up text.
A slightly annoying thing about mario galaxy.

Any game that won't let me skip cutscenes or speed up text.
A slightly annoying thing about mario galaxy.
You can speed through most of the text, and skip cutscenes you've already seen. Try Final Fantasy III, where you can't skip the cutscenes and are forced to mash the A %26 B buttons until you get to the boss fight.
Guitar Hero 3. Raining Blood on expert......I now know what hard can truly be...

In dawn of mana for playstation 2, in the battle arena when you battle, you are able to break open chests, crates, barrels, and flower vases. some times odd foods like bones, hams, and tomatoes pop out of them. oddly, I am unable to obtain such items or eat them into HP (Health or head points). Is this normal? is anyone else experinecing this issue? Thanks in advance!

I have a love/hate relationship with gaming.

Currently, I have a 3 month old xbox 360 elite paired with a new 32'' Panasonic LCD TV that sits on a new glass stand. It'sa nice system. I have about 5 games (Dead Rising, Fear, Orange Box, etc...) that go with the system. I love to game and I'm an Ex PC Gamer. But, I'm starting to feel guilty when I game anymore. I'm starting to feel that gaming is starting to become a waste of time. Maybe it's my age. I'm 38 years old. Maybe it's because of my responsibilities. I work full time. I don't have any children and I'm not married. I do live on my own. So I put my system in my local paper for sale. I'm selling the full system at a very good price so I should get a few calls. I'm starting to regret what I did because deep down inside I really don't want to get rid of my system. Ugg.. I have a love/hate relationship with gaming. What should I do? Can I maintain a decent life while still being a gamer? Oh, I was gaming on average 20-25 hrs per week. I have a love/hate relationship with gaming.
As a 25 year old gamer persuing a graduate degree, I can tell you that if you want to be successful in gaming and in life that its best to limit your game time for when you have nothing else to do. I packed up my controllers during this past semester while I was taking my classes so that I wouldn't feel distracted. Being single does allot you more free time so I wouldn't get rid of all your systems. Just don't feel like you HAVE to game when you get a new game. I am JUST now starting to play Kingdom Hearts 1 that was given to me as a present about 5 years ago (or however long its been since it was released). Its not that I didn't like it, I just didn't have any time to play it and rather than force myself to play, I just put it aside for the day when I would have some extra time. Since classes ended at the end of last week, I have an enormous amount of free time for a few weeks. As you get older, you should view gaming like your other entertainment past-times: there when you need it, forgotten when you don't.I have a love/hate relationship with gaming.
Ditto!! I'm 49 yers old (and about to turn 50), but I won't give up gaming. I find it a great release for stress and the normal doldrums of everyday routines. Don't get me wrong; gaming has its' place, and that should be when all the work is done and all the responsibilities melt away after a long day. But, asa member of a family that grew up with the Commodore 64, Atari 2600 and 5200, NES and then the Genesis, it's become second nature to me. I gave up console play about 9 years ago (except for the occasional play with my daughter and my oldest son/daughter about the same time) for the pc and there hasn't been any looking back ever since. I see nothing wrong gaming as long as it's in moderation and it doesn't interfere with work, family or home responsibilities. You'd be surprised how many gamers there are (pc and console) over the age of 40 out there. In addition, after retiring from the Department of Defense 3 years ago, you wouldn't believe how many gamers I've had for clients that are over 50 and contract me to build mid to top of the line gaming systems. It's a medium of entertainment and it just isn't going to go away. You can either embrace it or or let it slip through your fingers. Also, it keeps my mind sharp and my reflexes in top shape.
well my brother told me that average gamers nowadays are anywhere from 30-40 years old so i wouldn't worry too much......i mean hey there are 60 year olds playing wii

what if.............

what if politicians solved their arguments by playin war videogames instaed of actual wars. thatd be kool tons of em would play but its not possible theyd be too competitve and greedy . but it would save millions of lives. ur comments pros and cons on this subject welcomewhat if.............
Civilizations: Reality Version!what if.............
Lol. yes it would be good...because nobody would die etc. But whoever lost would just say ''screw this'' and attack for real.
Lol. yes it would be good...because nobody would die etc. But whoever lost would just say ''screw this'' and attack for real.
Also, Politician A would have Politician B's fingers broken, so he can't click moues buttons.Sweet idea though, like all utopias. Great topic.

well... they may be smart but dont think the US would except 16 hours of skool a day lol!
The idea of wars without death is a good one,but theres no way that it would happen. Anyone willing to take such passive action as play a game for your beliefs, might aswell play blackjack or poker for control and victory. Besides, you think hackers are bad now, just wait till people are fighting for their country.
yea but i mean if people just werent so selfcentered and greedy there wouldnt have to be war lol but thats sumthin different not bout videogames
South Korea would be the world power.
no offence but i don't like that idea at all. because after that cheat codes will be a federal offence and everyone would be a super hacker and there would be tons of crazy viruses

• Gamespot Preliminary Question

what happened? UT was at 20,000 or so votes, now its barley at 5,000 did someone supervote? Same with Crysis, weird.Gamespot Preliminary Question
i think after enough votes it just resets itself which is dumb because all those people voted for no reason. but then again it shows up on your profile so people can see what you thought about the game so i guess it's okay. but i wonder if it still counts it in the average score for the game? because that is really where the community participation comes in.sorry for rambling

Preliminaries: Why does Kane and Lynch have more votes than PGR4?

PGR has fewer votes than Kane and lynch :oSeriously do racing fans not vote? This is nothing to do with the controversy. I played kane and lynch and its poor. Its also pretty shallow. PGR4 however is a vast game with one of the best games of all time tucked away in the garage. Even if there was no racing in PGR4 and all you did was walk around the garage playing Geo Wars it should still get more votes than Kane and lynch. Can anyone give me a reason? I am more interested in why PGR has so few rather than why KAL has more than expected.

I was going to buy a new game soon

I narrowed it down between these three:Call of Duty 4Mass EffectBioshockI'm asking this question here because everyone is neutra. :wink:So, which one is better IYHO?I was going to buy a new game soon
Well I nvr played Mass Effect but, my friends said it's awsome. However I've played CoD4 %26 Bioshock %26 I recommend COD. It's so goodI was going to buy a new game soon
i would suggest Mass Effect because it's a huge game you can play over and over, and it would surely pass the time to the point when you can get a new game
It depends on what your looking for. For a really high quality fps, CoD4. The problem with that game is that it's short, but if you have internet, it's one of the best online shooters I've played. Bioshock has an awesome enviroment and story, but not the best control, and the weapons are kinda dinky. Mass Efect has an awesome story and combat but if you don't like those kinda games, your probably better with one of the other two.

The Orange Box - PC or PS3?

i was wondering if i should get the orange box for my pc or my ps3. mind you, my pc has been gathering dust lately and is outdated by today's standards (who isnt nowadays?). it runs on an intel P4 3.4 Ghz, 2 gigs of RAM, and a GeForce 6800. So regarding the mediocre reviews for the ps3 version and my outdated pc, which is a better choice? The Orange Box - PC or PS3?
the game is deffinetly not hardware intensive.....even though the PC version would probably look worse for you...its really the best version of the game by far....their is no lag at all in TF2, and the games are a lot bigger...there is also tons of user content...already their are dozens of new portal levels. The Orange Box - PC or PS3?
There's already a thread going on which details the serious issues of the PS3 version. Your PC is anything but outdated - you will be able to run everything within The Orange Box maxed out with a smooth framerate.

• Broken bones in skate

Has anyone broken more than 13 bones in skate?I can only manage to get 13 when i try off huge stuff (mega ramp, bridge)
Does anyone know how to get more than that?
(I'm kinda having a competition with my friend to see who can get the most, we're equal on 13 at the moment, not using glitches)

Do you compete?

I was just wondering if anybody here competes in gaming tournaments.Personally...I don't...but I was planning on it sometime next year....it seems like a lot of fun.Do you compete?
Nope I'm not dedicated enough. My main thing are singlepayer games with short but addictive storyline.Do you compete?
Nope. I prefer just having fun playing games. Competitions just get me too worked up. Not only that but I've started to prefer playing singleplayer games.
That's crazy because before Xbox Live I always wanted to play games by myself...but now I enjoy playing with other people.
That's crazy because before Xbox Live I always wanted to play games by myself...but now I enjoy playing with other people.
I still enjoy multiplayer games with my friends in the same room or over a LAN but I cannot play with people online anymore... I just find it un-fun and quite irritating at times. For example... if I have skill and kill someone who doesn't like being killed, I am a ''noob'' or am ''hacking.'' I use a weapon I'm not ''supposed'' to that is ''cheap'' I'm a ''*weapon*noob''. I used to take those insults as compliments but now I just cannot stand most of the online multiplayer community anymore, especially in games where getting a good score is paramount over having fun.

The whole PC and console online market has evolved into something I just cannot enjoy anymore.
i competed in a gaming tournament at pax last year but there was no prize because it was just a late night activity where every one got together and just had some fun

Balance in FPS's

You know looking back I can't believe I had to deal with back in the day of FPS shooters, the old 'Tier' weapon system, where one weapon was simply better than another, normally this wasn't a problem ( at least not on the n64, since there was no online you had to get your friends who usually didn't know how to play) but once everyone was equally skilled at a game (for me it was Perfect Dark) the minute someone got a rocket launcher (or the Farsight) they were garunteed a win (they wouldn't die without a fight, so they would get many kills before dieing). Sodoes anyone remember those days, and do you like the old system?Balance in FPS's
It still happens todayBalance in FPS's
today's shooters are more often class based...so they are usually a lot more balanced.
aw yes, the goldeneye days. I enjoyed every moment of them. Most games are still like that in a way now a days.
When you put it that way, there's really nothing that's fair about them, in regard to the weapon-based system. That's speaking on the level where all players are equal, of course. In comparision to the 360's Gears of War online multiplayer, it's easy for me to pick war's gears. The weapons have distinct differences, without a doubt. I'm not gonna want to run into a close quarters battle 3-vs-1 when my power weapon is a sniper and I have my Lancer as a standard weapon, and a grenade. I'm gonna want that balancer; the Gnasher, with at least 3 active reload-ready shots.I guess it also depends on the game itself.
The tier system isn't really a problem when weapons play differently, and are best in a particular situation, but are useless in another. For example, in Halo 3 if you catch someone in a hallway or by surprise with a needler you couldn't have had a better weapon, but if it's in open ground and the enemy sees you, he probably won't hit a thing. Also it helps when the good weapons need a lot of fighting to get it. For example you can place all power weapons in the middle of the map as a reward for anyone who can get it without getting killed.

Gamespot reviews DO have an effect on how you judge a game after youv'e playedit

A perfect example of this is, in my opinion, True crim NYC.I never read a review for it, got it for christmas and loved it...almost as good as GTA 3 in my opinion. But i can guarantee if i had seen the 4.5 score gamespot gave it, then played it, i wouldnt have liked it. Gamespot reviews DO have an effect on how you judge a game after youv'e playedit
No, you would have liked it, but you wouldn't admit it. The faults of the game are there, how much they affect you, that's subjective. That's why every gamer must develop his/her own criteria and stick to them. Reviews are just a helpful source of info, if you personally think you'll like a game, you just have to give it a shot.Gamespot reviews DO have an effect on how you judge a game after youv'e playedit
Sure they do, but not for all games. I admit I might have looked a bit worse onRed Steel than I should, but for most games the reviews don't matter. If reviews started to affect me a lot, I would stop watching reviews.
Actually, I think it's more psychological than anything else. For example, if I never heard of games like Neverwinter Nights or read the review, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as if I did read the GS review on NWN.
But i can guarantee if i had seen the 4.5 score gamespot gave it, then played it, i wouldnt have liked it.
Sadly, that makes you a follower. Unfortunately, a lot of people here seem to be the same way. A lot of people here claim to only play AAA games. Well, AAA status is an opinion, which should be SOLELY YOURS. People here go and blindly follow these review numbers and are playing games they don't enjoy. Why is it that there's always a thread about how Halo isn't that good, or Metal gear isn't that good? Because people go and buy the game because its supposed to be good and receives high marks, but turned out not to be enjoyable to certain people. And that's ok. Like someone earlier said, you really have to come up with your own criteria for what makes a game fun for YOU.
Reading a poor review could make you more consious about seeing the flaws of the game so I could see how it might slightly effect your enjoyment but only very little. How much fun you have with the game is soley on you.
I don't ao along with review scores too much. If there is a game that I really want I will get it regardless of score, however I do find myself normally agreeing with GS scores. Well at least in the same ball park, whether Isee it before r after I play the game
Way back when Mario Kart 64 was all the rage, I used to play it and loved it. Years later, I saw the low score it received on GS. To this day, that has to be the only game on GS which has received a score I thought was quite unfair. That game deserved a lot more than the 6 point whatever it received.
If the flaws didn't bother you the first time you played it, the GameSpot review shouldn't change that significantly.
I know I might be alone here but I read reviews after I have bought and played the game. I know it sounds backwards but after playing games for a good length of time, I have a pretty good idea of what I like. I do like to read reviews to see if the reviewer and I have common ground for what we both think of the game. I get a little humor out of it when I find that the reviewer and I have different perspectives on a game. It just reinforces the thought that people will see a game differently and that the best judge of whether or not a game is good or bad to you is yourself.
Some people just follow the crowd though. If most people were to say that a game sucked, more people would agree even though thy might actually love it. Then again there are those that don't. Good On you.
That's completely true! I once really loved ''Simpsons: Hit %26 Run''... then I read the review Official Playstation 2Magazine UK gave it, with a dissapointing 5/10 score. It changed my opinion permanently.
As much as many of us don't want to admit it, we ARE followers and we DO care what others think ( at least 80% of us) if Gta 3 were given a 7.5 there is a chance that I would simply treat it as a rental and an OKAY game, but since it has rave reviews I love the GTA series, I liked spiderman 2 and thought it was a 9/10 game but after reading that most reviews were at the 6/7 range I didn't really enjoy it (though to be fair I was 5% through the game when I made my '9/10' decision) But there are games in which I just did not like and to my surprise got rave reviews (Halo) and after playing again, my decision was still the same. I believe when a reviewer points out a problem in a game that you sub-consciously know is there, it 'opens your eyes' in a way.
No, you would have liked it, but you wouldn't admit it. The faults of the game are there, how much they affect you, that's subjective. That's why every gamer must develop his/her own criteria and stick to them. Reviews are just a helpful source of info, if you personally think you'll like a game, you just have to give it a shot.
well put sir. i think reviews just affect the way you think when you go out to buy a game, instead of seeing if you bought a well rated game because your already past the point of no return unless you return it which i guess it's really just past the point of deciding to buy it and before the point of deciding whether to keep it or not

Ocarina of Time Commercial made me laugh and gave me goosebumps

Here's the commercial. See for yourselves. Also did the same thing happened to you? I laughed at ''Willst thou suck'' but the music gave me goosebumps O_0Where is the music from?Ocarina of Time Commercial made me laugh and gave me goosebumps
is that a real commercial thath was on TV or did some1 just make that and post on utube Ocarina of Time Commercial made me laugh and gave me goosebumps
It was on TV. I remember watching it and being blown away. The fact that they used Conan the Barbarian music only amplified the awesomeness.

I love that commercial. I remember that OoT came out the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We didn't have school at my universitythat Wednesday, but instead of leaving Tuesday afternoon, I waited until Wednesday morning so that I coulld stop by Best Buy and pick up my preorder of Oot. Needless to say, it was a long painful night waiting on the time to pass by. WhenI got to Best Buy, there was about fifty people already waiting to get the game. We made a bee line straight for the games section, where all the Zelda copies were on a cart, then another bee line to the cash register. Anyway, I remember watching that commercial about ten times the night before.
Great commercial, makes me shivers. Anyone else noticed the little sign on last board in commercial? It's on the bottom of screen and it says ''Get N, or get out'' Hillarious:D
:D a lot of ppl paid attention to that
Much better than the FF7 commercial. Incredibly misleading.
That is AWESOME!You know, there were a lot of funny N64 commercials....The bomberman 64 commercial which was a parody of Spiderman was hilarious.
I remember seeing that for the first time in THEATERS. They actually played it in between some movie trailers.

Is my 360 supposed to be playing multi region DVD formats? Ever since the RROD..

Hey Guys, Is my 360 supposed to be playing multi region DVD formats? Ever since the RROD my Australian PAL 360 now plays all NTSC DVD formats. Its like it doesn't have kind of lock out at all. I own quite a few American DVDs I generally watch on my PC including MAD TV and some others so I thought I would put one in and see if it would work and it did! I haven't tried a game because obviously I don't have one but I'm curious as to whether or not it would work. Has anyone else experienced this? I will also note my 360 has never been opened up, modded or changed in any way since the day I bought it.The only time it has been touched was after it died and was fixed by Microsoft and returned to me.Update: How crazy !Is my 360 supposed to be playing multi region DVD formats? Ever since the RROD..
They probably unlocked the region lock on your system to test their repairsand forgot to re-enable it. I'd say your 360 has been upgraded in a serious way.Is my 360 supposed to be playing multi region DVD formats? Ever since the RROD..
wow lucky you. I have been trying to get a dvd player with no region lock to play my british films before the come out in america but i guess you just solved my problem. i guess i just have to overheat my xbox
[This message was deleted at the request of the original poster]
Believe it or not my brothers plays NTSC DVDs as well!!!! There could potentially be hundreds of 360s with no regional lock out. Where searching for an a NTSC game as we speck to see how deep this goes
Wow, that's lucky indeed. On the other hand, after having your 360 repaired, would you really use it to watch DVDs? I wouldn't risk overworking it :P
now what you need to do is auction it off to someone who can figure out how this was done, and then tell the world :)
That is too awesome. Do you plan on trying out NTSC games in it?

Dreamcast 2 worldwide launch on 9/9/09!

Hi, ever since someone claiming to be working at Sega in January of 2007 said there were rumors going on that a new Sega machine called the Wave Limit was coming.Lets see, there has been a trademark re application years ahead of needing to be updated.Toshiro Nagoshi said that they now have a huge financial backing now that they are with Sammy.Yuji Naka said that he would like them to do a Dreamcast 2, he also said that he thought the new machines have come too early and that last gen could of been used up much more.I think he meant that the new games we have seen from the new machines have not been that good.Imagine a worldwide launch of Dreamcast 2 on 9/9/09 with a price tag with a 99 at the end of say 499 a day that clearly no one will forget if this happens.Sega Dreamcast flopped due to it's bad launches in Japan, Europe and Australia due to shortages of games and a earlier than expected launch in Japan.Sega Saturn also flopped in America due to an earlier than expected launch but did ok in Japan, which resulted in not many games and the softest of softest launches ever.Sonic Adventure had bad camera angles for the Japanese launch but was fixed for the rest of the world. So as you can see here if Sega machines just had a good launch everwhere all would of worked out.Imagine Shenmue 3, Sonic Adventure 3, Outrun 3, Jet Gring radio 3, Skies of Arcadia 2, Virtua Fighter 6, Panzer Dragoon Saga 2, Nights Journey of Dreams 2, Golenaxe canned for Xbox 360 and PS3 and going to SD2, Daytona USA 3 with Daytona USA 2, Ecco the Dolphin 2, Phantasy Star Universe 2, Fifth Phantom Saga canned for PS3 and Xbox 360 and going to DC2.Imagine being able to play your old Dreamcast and Saturn games and be able to download ones you never played. The best online experience i mean they made Phantasy Star online play really well for dial up imagine what they could do with the increasingly popular and advanced broadband. It might also explain why they never officially said what Platform Shenmue 3 would be on,i mean Shenmue 3 is supposed to be so good what better way to be the top group in making game machines again than have this game a launch title.Even though Microsoft loses money on their machines and Sony does sometimes Nintendo never does.Sega can make a huge amount of money from peripherals anything from mp3 players to joysticks. they can easily regain being the top publisher as well as game developer as Sega will publish lots of games as it is their machine.Sega Sammy has made Sega focus on more Western orientated content, and has made Sega comunicate as a whole rather than rivals like in the day of the Saturn and the Dreamcast that resulted in the 32x and Sega CD flopping, the 32x flopped as it was just made by the American arm and with the Sega CD they weren't really working together as a team as i said earlier they were like rivals.Remember when it was said that Yuji Naka didn't allow Sonix Xtreme to be released because Sega of America used his engine without his permission, i'm not saying that's what really happened but it does look that way, i mean they did release that awfull crap Sonic the hedgehog game on PS3 and Xbox 360.Sega also spent money on having an extra machine being made because of this rivalry which resulted in the American version of the Dreamcast to be axed, imagine what they could of achieved if they worked together.Dreamcast 2 for a 9/9/09 release please.Dreamcast 2 worldwide launch on 9/9/09!
I wish it would. If only Microsoft would leave the market for them to return. Plus if they did return it would not be the same. Mario and Sonic arefriends now. It seems silly for them to return and compete against Nintendo now. Oh what could have been.:cry:Dreamcast 2 worldwide launch on 9/9/09!
I completely agree. I cant stress enough how awesome the Dreamcast was. I still have mine and it works like a charm. Sad it didn't so as well as it should have. Oh. and Daytona USA 3 FTW!
The PS3, 360, and Wii should all be firing on all cylinders in late 2009. If SEGA tried to launch a console in the midst of a generation I think they'd fail miserably. The only way they could do it is if they could somehow out-Wii the Wii by launching at a low price point and offering something that you couldn't get on any of the other systems, which doesn't seem likely. Not to be pessimistic, but I just don't see it happening.
I'd love to see this happen. As a gamer of course. Sega to me is ace at doing things others steal and profit from. Dreamcast and Saturn were for the hardcore. Nintendo hasnt been hardcore since super nes. Will this happen, prob not. Id love to see the real ECW return, id love to see Layne Staley still alive and the real Alice in Chains touoring....heck we got a better chance of Guns N Roses all getting back together or Blizzard putting out Starcraft 2, Warcraft 4 and Diablo 3 before Sega ever got back in the game. I miss the days of Nintendo and Sega pushing each other. This gen is boring me so bad i think im gonna hook up xbox tonight and play steel battalion
Just what we need. Another $500+ console.
This would be an incredibly stupid move as Rag stated, if Sega would just develop the games that everyone wants them too, instead of releasing half-assed rehashes to games that have already realized all of their potential, they could be more successful as a developer. The game industry is barely able to support 3 platforms, why would Sega enter a market that is even more cluttered than it was after they released the first Dreamcast...Unless they have some sort of innovation, that would appeal to the masses more so than the Wii, there is simply too much competition for them, and this is coming from one of their biggest supporters. Make Shenmue III damnit!
Just what we need. Another $500+ console.
It would probably be within the 200 to 350 price range, which has been the industry standard from the beginning, and basically still remains
i be happy when here is 4 consoles but this gen is started after 3years if sega want to sell good they must release dreamcast 2 in the next gen i love to see there is in next gen Playstation 4,xbox 720, wii 2 , dreamcast 2 that can be a great battle sony vs microsoft and sega vs nintendo

I still got my dreamcast and I love that console. However it's just not realistic to be expecting another one.First off, it'll be mid-to-late generation by that time. The Wii and Ps3 will be a little over 3 years old, and the 360 about 4. I think they learned their lesson about premature launchings as it didn't go so hot the last time.Secondly, The chances that they are actually developing a new console, when they are not exactly a powerhouse at the moment is slim. They don't have the money to develop and produce a console that will likely be losing them money like the 360 and PS3 lose money on each sale. It's not financially feasible. No, I'm afraid that they are just protecting their copyrighted name, to make sure nobody else steals it. Don't be holding your breath for another Sega console anytime soon, as much as myself and many other gamers would love to see one.
It would be a moronic move by Sega. Give it up people -- there will not be a Dreamcast 2 anytime soon.
What are you talking about. I would totally pass up a Wii or PS3 for a DC2!! given the right circumstances anyhow.
I don't understand why would anyone want to see another console with another set of exclusives. Do you people enjoy wasting money? Sega being multiplatform is a good thing...if they actually made worthwhile games to matter anymore, of course.
SEGA can barely publish a game let alone develop one since Sammy bought them, so to fantasize about them making a console is pointless. It's not going to happen.I'd be happy if SEGA would just return to making good games, but since they lost most of their devs, that's probably never going to happen (unless you like pachinko).
Misleading title FTL!TC, you might want to change that topic title, before dvader bursts an aneurysm. And no, I don't think the announcement of yet another console would be such an nice idea.

I remember that...the next boss was some kind of spinning wheel of death...I think. Sadly I don't remember the technique. Your best bet is to find a retro site or check gamefaqs.

Consoles worth buying just for co-op play?

What retro/classic systems (either consoles or cartridge-based computers, no PC's would you say are worth buying just for its co-op games and no other reason? This could either be because a) there are a whole lot of co-op games for that console which are either exclusive to that system or have their best version on that system b) There are only a couple of co-op games for that console but those games are only on that console and they are good enough to justify buying that system.c) A super obscure weird system that only has 1 or 2 co-op games that might suck but no-one will even know they exist without someone familiar with the system pointing them outI've done a LOT of research on this subject so I can kick this off with what I've read about...Playstation 1,2,3 and Xbox, Xbox360 aren't on this list because there are loads of lists of co-op games for those systems.3DO - As far as I know, doesn't have any co-op games other than Captain Quazar. There's some game shows I think but they are competitive. Not a machine for co-op only players IMO.Atari 2600 - definitely worth it for co-op play just for Joust and Mario Bros. We also play Space Invaders (one of us moves the other shoots)., Wizard or Wor, GI Joe, and a couple others, but for us, it's all about Joust.Atari 5200 - No idea whether its worth it just for co-op.Atari 7800 - I've heard its good for co-op but I don't know much about it so I don't know if it's worth getting just for co-op for people who already have a 2600.Our TI-99/4A (cartridge based computer) I grew up with this computer so I'm biased towards it. There is some co-op play on two games that don't to my knowledge exist on any other platform. We have a lot of fun playing Microsurgeon (one moves the other shoots) and also A-maze-ing in co-op mode.Saturn US - We plan on getting one just for Guardian Heroes. I've read in several places it's worth getting just for that game. We also plan on getting Virtual On, House of the Dead. I know there are some other very popular co-op Saturn games, but I think most them are Japanese and won't play on the US console. From what I've read, this system is definatley worth buying just for co-op, but I have never owned one.Saturn Japanese - not sure if you need to know Japanese to play these but there are several articles that say these are worth buying one: Dungeons and Dragons Collection, Elevator Action Returns, no idea if it would be worth buying one just for the Japanese co-op games.N64 We have one in the mail and I got Star Fox 64 and Jet Force Gemeni in the mail too... I'm still looking into what co-op games there might justify buying this console, I've read Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, Quake 2 is good on this console, but the jury is still out as to how. Honestly it was an impulse buy, as from what I've read the co-op games may or may not have been worth buying the system for co-op only games, I'll report later when we get it.Genesis/Mega drive: I've seen several co-op games listed for this esp but I'm not sure if they justify buying this system for co-op onlyor not: The ones I remember reading about are General Chaos, Streets of Rage 1-3, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. NES - I'm sure there are loads of co-op games for this, I just can't remember what the exclusive co-op titles are or if it's worth getting just for co-op, but my guess would be that it is.SNES - I see several co-op games on co-op lists for this system but have no idea if it's worth getting the system or not. People list Battle Toads but also say it's really hard to beat. Turtles in Time, Double Dragon, Wild guns, Kirby Super Star, The Secret Of Mana, Zombies ate my neighbors. It seems like a candidate system for co-op only players, but I have no idea.GameCube- Does anyone know if this is worth getting just for co-op? I see loads and loads and loads of co-op games for this system, but almost none of them seem to be exclusive to this system, maybe someone here knows.Dreamcast - Hmm from what I've read this may not be worth buyng just for co-op, but again I'm just going by what I've read online, some co-ops I've read about are Soul Calibur Power Stone 1%262, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Powerstone 1 %26 2Jaguar - I have no idea what the co-op scene is for this system.FM Towns Marty - I don't think there are any co-op games that justify getting this, but I'd love to be corrected if I'm wrong about that. The problem is from what I've read there really isn't much in the way of exclusive titles for this, co-op or otherwise.Sega Master System - Does anyone know the co-op situation for this?TurboGrafx-16 - not sure about the co-op scene hereObscure consoles: My wife and I love the obscure systems and are trying to find out which of the obscure systems have even 1 co-op game. The TI-99/4a (cartridge based computer) has two co-op games that we know of as listed above. Other consoles we'd love to know if there's any co-op games at all no matter how bad are: Amstrad GX4000, Commodore 64 Games System, Action Max, Tomy Tutor/Pyuuta, Sega SG-1000, VTech CreatiVision, Fairchild Channel F, CD-I, Super A'can, Amiga CD32, Apples Pippin, iQue Player, Tapwave Zodiac, etc....Please give your opinions as to your which systems are worth buying just for co-op or any info on obscure systems with any co-op at all...Consoles worth buying just for co-op play?
SNES has some wicked multiplayer games. You already listed a bunch of them, let me add Joe %26 Mac 1 %26 2. I loved those games.

2007 Video Game Awards, Game Of The Year = BioShock.

The Spike TV VGA awards was a night we all won't forget. When BioShock won game of the year. I don't see why BioShock won, Halo 3 could have won. 2007 Video Game Awards, Game Of The Year = BioShock.
Alot of games ''could have won'', but Bioshock took the gold.2007 Video Game Awards, Game Of The Year = BioShock.
Only the UFC on Spike should be taken seriuously.Bio is a great game but I think many others out class it.(and lets not forget it is a fps without multi)
The only reason Halo 3 would win is because of the popularity... Bioshock is a better game, IMO.

It's funny how Mass Effect was released late November, and it ended up winning RPG of the year... I love the game, but that was a quick decision. Haha!
The VGA's mean nothing. They count games from over a year ago, and have on award that screams ''This contest holds no credibilty, screw you gamers!'' An award for Mountain Dew is enough to piss me off.
Yeah I would have liked to have seen Halo 3 take the award but I'm cool with Bioshock getting it. I loved the demo but haven't gotten around to playing the full game yet.As for the show itself I'm not embarrased to say that I really enjoyed it. Samuel L. Jackson is always cool, Videogames Live playing some tunes of the classic game music was pretty cool as well, and some of the World Premiere showings of new games was interesting although nothing beat the awesomeness of what Blizzard showed off last year with World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. I found it highly entertaining to watch.

/rant on Spike TV Video Game Awards

Am I the only one that thinks they are ridiculous? All of the game of the year nominees are Xbox/ PC exclusive. How can you possibly leave out super mario galaxy? This is one of the highest rated games ever, and reviewed better overall more than any other game on their list. I like my 360...I play it the most out of the 3 next gen consoles. Its just annoying to see the fact that they are overlooking a great title like galaxy. From what I've seen in the past their VGA's are a joke.
/rant on Spike TV Video Game Awards
True. But spike TV is marketed for teenage to young adult men. Not families, girls or the elderly. I'm not trying to offend, thats just how spike is, guns, violence and all the m-rated for a reason. Super mario galaxy is an amazing game and is being over looked every where./rant on Spike TV Video Game Awards
what i really dislike about spike is game head. while the interviews and news are nice, they are so freaking biased. i can't believe how every game i've seen reviewed or talked about in the show gets a good review. it's bs.
Spike TV is just... bad. Don't use it.
I remember a few years ago when one of the WWE Smackdown games won ''Best Sports Game'' or something like that. From that moment on, I knew the VGA's were a joke.

I figured Spike TV's VGA's were a joke since they announced it. It's comedy who they announce what celebrities are showing up, because 80% of them are not the type to be associated with the gaming industry at all. Like that couple from ''The Hills''... WTF? Isn't that show just about socialites who go party at exclusive clubs? lol

The VGA's can be entertaining in the sense of watching celebrities make a fool out of themselves trying to talk up a video game they probably never heard of before the award show. But the industry is growing in a huge way, so of course, there will be big entertainment companies that want to ride the coat tails of the gaming industry... It's all about the money.
They are a horrible example of gaming journalism.
Am I the only one that thinks they are ridiculous? All of the game of the year nominees are Xbox/ PC exclusive. How can you possibly leave out super mario galaxy? I see Spike's Video Game Awards the same way I view MTV's Video Awards: I ignore them because in my eyes they are not legitimate and seem to trivialize video games and pop music. Video games and pop music deserve better recognizion and respect than these two award shows.

a good game is a good game regardless of how close it is released to the end of the year. you don't need 4 months to know a game is crap or great.

I don't understand what you are getting at. Could you explain in detail how measuring to that degree of precision would help OoT stay ahead?
What he's saying is... since Mario Galaxy has the same % rating as Zelda OoT, that Gamerankings had to break the ratings down into .000 % to seperate the games. It matters to a lot of people what ''the best game of all time'' is... especially those people in places such as System Wars where something like this could mean the difference between a won and lost argument or to those who try to find objectivity among the opinions of others.

I myself don't care much for scores that reflect an overall evaluation... I find them to not be very specific about a game's actual qualities. And like you said, they are both ''amazing games for their time'' while comparing them to each other would lead to Mario Galaxy being declared the unanimous winner. I don't think it is actually possible to name one game as ''better'' over another especially when considering time periods... and I really don't think Gamerankings is that important unless you consider score to be a deciding factor determining what games you buy.

Favorite Game of All Time???

So... whats your favorite game or seriesof all time... ever, for any platform??? Favorite Game of All Time???
I would have to say all the way back to the Dreamcast. The only game I ever played for it, Shenmue. I hella loved that game and the series. I would fake being ill so I could stay off school and play it. Looking at it now it sucks but omg I was in love with it :|The after that, GTA all the way. Favorite Game of All Time???
What else but the very first Diablo. It single handidly revived a genre. It did a lot for rpg's, and modern publishers are still using its ideas.

Xbox360 or Wii

I am trying to decide which system i want and am wondering what people think. Iwhat i really want is an xbox36.because i the 360 has better games that i really want to play like halo, assains creed, cod4 ect. The wii is cheaper and is one of the only reasons i would get one cause the contraols actually kind of piss me off and the games look kinda***REMOVED BY MODERATOR***like cooking mama and stuff. THE STICKEYS THING IS ON I AM NOT TOTALLY AGAINST WIIS BUT WOULD MUCH RATHER PREFER THE XBOX FOR GAMES AND GRAPHICS AND SUCHXbox360 or Wii
Go for Xbox 360.Xbox360 or Wii
From the stickied rules thread:Finally, some advice regarding console comparisons. Don't start a thread asking ''Should I buy a 360 or a PS3?'' or ''I think the Wii is the best because...'', as it leads to petty fanboyism and the end result is as useful as a bicycle to a fish. There are plenty of places on the main site here at GameSpot where you can do your own research and find out which machine is right for you.

What game are you most looking for next year?
[This message was deleted at the request of a moderator or administrator]What game are you most looking for next year?
Resident Evil 5 as far as I know won't be coming out until 2009 at the least.Moving on to the nextfew games on my list: Super Smash Bros. Brawl, No More Heroes, and Mario Kart Wii.Off-topic: Why would you need to bump a thread you posted two minutes ago?Edit: I forgot Starcraft II!!!
GTA, Army of two, NG2 and Devil may cry 4
I bumped it because it didn't show up on the forum board, and I think you may be right Techno about Resident Evil, my bad.
In terms of what actually stands the best chance of releasing next year, definitely Mafia 2 as of now.
Personaly, GTA and Resident evil
It's already been confirmed by the developer that RE5 won't arrive until 2009 the earliest.
Fable 2!
GTA4, Starcraft 2 and Warhammer online.
oh and DoW:Soulstorm
Fallout 3, if it comes out.
Ninja Gaiden 2 and Burnout Paradise.
Resident evil 5, GTA4, and army of two are all gonna be sick.
fuel of war and endwar
Gray Matter. No More Heroes also looks great.
Spore will hopefully be incredible.
I'm seriously hoping Spore, Age of Conan, Warhammer, GTA4 and Starcraft 2 live up to the INSANE amount of hype.
MGS4 and little big planet. but not much news of games are announced yet so we'll see what comes up.
StarCraft II. It and maybe Spore are probably going to be the only two games I ''need'' and most likely will be playing in 2008.
GTA IV comes to mind. And also the world of warcraft expansion return of the lich king....which I'm not sure if its coming out any time next year or not. I haven't checked up on it much lately.

Am i the only one?

Or does anybody else has this problem with COD4. When i push down on the left analog stick and move up to sprint, the character doessprint for awhile but without releasing it, it just automatically at times resumes to walking on its own. And it can get frustrating at times, since i will find myself pressing the left analog stick several times especially when u need to get the hell out of somewhere nad not being able to do so as quick as i would want to. Should i believe that my wireless controller is faulty or is this normal? Any light on this would be appreciated.

So, have you checked out Undertow (XBLA)?

I usually wouldn't blatantly plug my own work like this, but GameSpot hasn't reviewed this game yet, and I'd like it to get lots and lots of attention. Basically, Undertow is an XBL Arcade game (800 MS Points) that mixes the dual-analog shooting of Geometry Wars with the ''territories'' modes of some first-person shooters. It's got a pretty sweet campaign, and even better online multiplayer for up to 16 (!) players at once. And it pwns.If you're not already up to your friggin' eyeballs in games you've bought and haven't gotten around to playing, please at least download the Undertow demo. I know it's just a lil downloadable game, but it's the kind of fresh, original title that gamers so often pine for and then ignore upon arrival. Be a revolutionary. Make a difference.*rolls eyes at self*Here's the Gamer2.0 review. So, have you checked out Undertow (XBLA)?
He speaks truth. I can vouch for it.So, have you checked out Undertow (XBLA)?
Played the trial version. I like the humour and the graphics, but to be honest, I'm not that crazy about the multiplayer focus. I would much prefer it if this was a more focused old school shooter. Good game, worth a peek, but it only has staying power if you get into the multiplayer. Looking forward to more downloadable games with this kind of production values that are geared more towards my tastes.EDIT: Come on, you guys. This could be the next Forgotten Worlds or Retrograde/Exile.
I have it. And while it's a pretty game, the single-player is horribly balanced and has some of the worst friendly AI I've ever seen. To win in Undertow (particularly in Ultra Mode) you have to basically be a one man army, as your AI friendlies will not only pick inferior classes to combat the AI enemies, but are brain dead as well. The game also has the occasional boss fight, but it basically revolves around swimming in a circle and shooting non-stop. It would've been nice if they'd put more effort and thought into the bosses, as it was pleasant surprise to find boss fights in this type of game. The voice acting is deplorable though -- think 4th grade dropout reciting Shakespeare after a night of shooters. The classes feel balanced enough, and while I haven't played it online yet, I imagine it would be much more fun than the campaign.
I will go and check this out. I have been looking for some more good shooters like it on the arcade so I will just go fire it up now. Thanks.
Gave the demo a try. I like what it's trying to do, but personally, it's not for me. Despite that, I hope it doesn't get overlooked by the majority. Nice to see something a little bit different.
I'll think about it.
Im gonna be picking this one up over the holidays, looks interesting.
Shame-us, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt like that during the campaign. One-man army is it - your team doesn't do a damn thing to help out. Did you actually beat it on Ultra by yourself? *gulp* And yes, the multiplayer is so, so much cooler, even though I thought the campaign was pretty cool in co-op anyway. Leave the voice work alone, it's a 50 MB, $10 game! :PEveryone else, if you've tried the game and just don't like it, that's still cool by me. I think it's because I almost dismissed it based off the name alone (yeah yeah... I should know better than that) and then wound up loving it that I'm so keen on people giving it a go. As long as it's not getting completely overlooked, it's all good.

I found the demo to be solid, I dug the setting and controls. Only problem for me was the size or maybe just the coloring of the little diver dude. With just a slight change in lighting they could have made him much easier to see. He's proportionate to his setting and about the same size as the ship in Geometry Wars, but even so I just kept losing him on screen.

No.None of Valve's games allow for Cross-platform play.It would cause too many complications and be too much of a hinderance if it was cross-platform for both versions (but definitely the PC) given that Valve prides itself on PC's open nature for delivery of content and design of the PC versions of their games and operation of their Steam service....meanwhile, Live! on 360 works the way it does because it's a closed platform which MS has absolute and full control over.

Taking your system on the road

Now I know many of you have PSP's and DS's that you carry around with you but how many of you actually pack up your console along with all it's crap and take it with you?I'm traveling to the east coast (I live in California) for 3 weeks over the holidays and I decided that in addition to my laptop loaded up with my favorite games maybe it would be a good idea to pack up the console too. I always take a large chunk of my DVD library with me to share with friends when I travel and that works out great but this will be a first. It seems that no matter how many movies I bring there is always something someone asks for that I have but didn't bring. Last year I brought 140 movies and what did they ask for? Beverly Hills Cop of all things but I digress. So, do you / have you, taken your whole set up on the road with you? Was it worth it? Is this a bad idea? How about, have you packed it up and taken it to a get together around town? Maybe your friend has that 42'' plasma your never going to be able to afford so that was reason enough to lug your X-box over there one day? I'm sure taking a Wii to a party would be fun but is it smart? How about your PS3? Tell me about your experiences with gaming on the road. Taking your system on the road
i used to at times with my older systems, but since ive got all the wires in the wall nowadays, it isnt really practicalTaking your system on the road

I bet it looks nice with all the wires hidden like that.
I did with my old PS2 but carrying a PS3 around with my games and controllers would break anyones back lol.

For want of a better word...

Is it ''nerdy'' to play videogames? I don't know about you, but I have witnessed some snide taunts and remarks about people who dedicate their lives to their gaming hobby. Stereotypical films like the ''40 year old virgin'' hardly help matters.Of course, gamers don't all come under one category... you have the casual gamer who invests a mere half hour of his life every couple of days completing a few circuits of Gran Turismo, a few massacres on San Andreas, the occasional game of PES.On the other hand, you have the obsessional, perfectionist square eyed gamers, who would rather urinate in an empty cola bottle than ''waste time'' going to the lavatory when they could be maxing out their cooking level on some obscure Japanese RPG.Do you tar all gamers with the same brush? It seems a silly question to ask on a gaming website, but I would like to know your views and experiences concerning the ''hip-ness'' of turning on your Xbox. And pleaseavoid arguments as to which gaming consoles are better! For want of a better word...
I think that some people, including gamers, tend to define you as a 'gamer' or a 'dork' and nothing else, if they find out that you play games. I'm a nerd and I'm proud of it, but I'm a lot of other things too.For want of a better word...
At this point in time it has never been more ''cool'' to be a gamer - but some people still have this idea of gaming being ''nerdy'' and ''geeky'', which is totaly wrong. I'm a gamer, and I'm a nerd (and proud of it) but that doesn't mean all gamers are nerds, and equaly it doesn't mean all nerds are gamers. The 2 are completely separate.
Well, for now, in the birth of the media that is video games, although people know about it, few are loyal fans like us. But, given time, the fanatics of video games will be tolerated like film buffs are.
im a gamer.. and i usually tend to game alot. but at the same time i was a three sport athlete in highschool, and i hung out with all my friends. i guess some people are just more open to games then others.
World of Warcraft killed any last remaining true association of ''nerdy'' with video games. I mean, who would have ever thought there would be a mainstream MMORPG?About the only thing left is LAN parties really.

Now I could be a bit slow but it looks as though they made a slam on the game and not Gamespot. I just think they were utilizing Gamespot as a reference in regards to it being one of the more commonly used sites that rated the game in question pretty low.

Best of 2007 Preliminaries.

Just saw the list and there's hardly any PC games, just Crysis and Tabula Rasa and a couple of other over hyped garbage games. I was looking forward to voting for The Witcher. Nearly all the games are crummy console games, and I really don't think any of the PC ones on the list are worth voting for.Was wondering what everyone else thought?Best of 2007 Preliminaries.
You can't really judge the games because they are on consoles. That's a bit arrogant and there's other titles that'll be competing that are also PC games like Call of Duty 4. You have to give the games more credit than you are because a lot of the games released this year have been really good and it's been a great year for the consoles. The Witcher isn't really up to par compared to a lot of other titles this year because it seemed a bit bland and didn't really pull in a great fan-base.Best of 2007 Preliminaries.
Lol, exactly what I was thinking. Where is The Witcher? It may not have been on the original Game Watch '07 list because it wasn't hyped like those other games were, but having played all those big game releases that interests me on both PC and Xbox360, The Witcher is still my favorite game of 2007.

It will always be a popularity contest and never a contest of quality.

Woot COD4 has most votes (15%), in your face Halo 3!!!
Woot COD4 has most votes (15%), in your face Halo 3!!!
Mario Galaxy is beating COD4 right now

So who is voting for Kane and Lynch .... who is with me?? LOL
So who is voting for Kane and Lynch .... who is with me?? LOL
:lol:There's no doubting the little Italian plumber :D
Personally I was wondering where the h*ll skate. is. I mean, if the umptifourteenth installment of the Tony Hawk-series (which this year was very bland) makes it onto the list, but their no 1 competitor doesn't, then how fair is the list?
Shame on you Gamespot...I voted for Call of Duty 4, but if I could do it again it'd be on skate.
+1 for The Witcher and -1 to Gamespot for not even having it on the list. Hardly surprising though...tis time I deleted a bookmark.
I was a little disappointed to see that the Witcher never made the list, it really deserved to be put down on it but oh well. Plenty of other games on there i enjoyed so i can't complain.
Lol look at PGR4, 0.1% of the vote.
Correct me if I'm wrong. This is just only pre-eliminaris. We will be able to vote at the end of the year on normal lists best rpg/fps etc. This pre-eliminaries list is lacking some major game. And WTF is there a 6.0/10 game doing.
True, but then again, The Witcher IS popular. Check out the results on the voodoo extreme RPG of the year poll. The Witcher completely dominated to the point no other title was close.

Best of 2007 write-ins

This is a thread for those folks who think the ''Best of 2007'' vote is missing the ACTUAL best of 2007.My write in: The WitcherBest of 2007 write-ins
I too wouldn't mind being able to vote for Witcher.Best of 2007 write-ins
hell yeah - it sure is one of the games I waited for for a long time and was not dissapointed!!! Why there is Hellgate on the list and not The Witcher?!?!?!

Today i raided the lost ark (an Indiana Jones reference)

if you磛 been reading my blog than you know that near me there is a store that sells sealed games of almost every console made to men, what you dont know it that store is only open for 2 hours (10 AM-12AM) and its only open when the owner FEELS like it and that its hidden in the deepest darkest corner of an almost forgotten mall , by now you think i磎 exagerating, but i swear to you its the honest to god truth, i磛 been going there every once in a while for a few years now and i磛 only seen it open like 5 times, and as if that weren磘 enough they dont know what they have, so once in the store you need to search everything for yourself and hoping you may find a gemLet me explain youjust HOW hard it is to get to that store, or as i like to call it ''the lost ark'' This particular lost ark is a gamer磗 dream come true, you can find literally every game and even some old consoles still sealed with a 75% discount everything ranging from a ZX Spectrum, a sega saturn, dreamcast or a super nintendo to a Wii, the catch is that no one knows where that place is and its filled with all sorts of mindless drooling fanboys, and as such many adventurers have gone in search of the game store, few returned, scarred for life as brain-dead fanboys, in order to get there i needed to arm myself with my trusty whip, a cool looking hat, some 1930磗 clothing and an asian kid called short round who can make all sort of embarassing and witty remarks at all the wrong moments, so i had to go buy that stuff at the nearby indian bazaar (i never knew we had one) this is where i bought all my gear all in one pack for 99euro (asian kid not included)
So i was all geared up, but i didnt know how to get to the forbidden temple, all the city maps and GPS磗 had a ''Turn back sign'' in the area where the game store is supposed to be So now i had to find a path for the store, but how? Luckily short round sugested i consulted the gypsys (he also sad an inapropriatly placed joke about how many gay people does it take to unscrew a vibrator right in the middle of the gay pride parade (oh how i love his wacky antics), but two felonys and one highway chase later we were able to ditch them.So now i had to find the gypsys and negotiate with them the map exchange, finding the gypsys was fairly easy, but i was forced to marry their eldest daughter and donate to their family my firstborn to them, so after the marriage ceremony and the 3 day honeymoon i was able to get the map and carry on with my quest Finally, it seems i was getting somewhere, after a 5 day walk, hiding during the day from the hords of orcs that infest this area and running at night when they all are sleeping, watching porn or both (because that磗 what orcs do) i finally stood in the entrance to the store, but it was surrounded by the most evil of undead, FANBOYS!!!! they atacked from all sides, saying that i should ''just wait, the PS3 is going to rock'' or the ''RROD is really a minor inconveniance'' and even ''Wii磗 online mode is the best ever'' i knew exactly what to do, take out my whip and the big book of video gaming facts (AKA Fanboy killer) didn磘 think i磀 need that whip did ya?so after fighting the hordes of undead fanboys and old school atari gamers, evading all the traps and opening chests and chests filled with old retro games i was able to find a PS1 gem, Fear Effect 2 retro helix, still sealed as if packaged yesterday only for 10 euro As soon as picked up the game all hell broke loose, i felt that the store was collapsing, i saw a giant round bolder rolling towards me with all intents fo crushing me, i ran with all my might escaping at the last secondand finally, it was done, am now the proud owner of Fear Effect retro helix for the PS1, the game is still sealed on my shelf....All was fine and dandy...The next day, short round told me that the store had ressurfaced, raised by the unholy atari and spectrum worshippers, hopping to horde all of their rare games for themselves, also they have shining wisdom, fighting vipers, fighters megamix for the saturn, soulblade and the original syphon filter for the PS1, when i heard this, i turned to my newly wed gypsy wife and told her ''get me my whip, i have games to buy''So long story short, i went to this game store that磗 really really REALLY hard to get to but has some awesome old games and bought Fear Effect 2 for the PS1, and i plan to return there as soon as possible Hope no one gets offended by some of the jokes here.... anyway does anyone else has this problem? Today i raided the lost ark (an Indiana Jones reference)
