2008: The Greatest Year For Gaming?

A lot of people have said that 2007 was the biggest year for gaming. We saw the releases of Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy, BioShock, and many more. But 2008, in my opinion, will be much bigger.Looking back, do you think 2007 was as huge as you thought it would be? Were you dissapointed at all by some of the releases?2008: The Greatest Year For Gaming?
I think the next years will be more awesome for gaming :) The next-gen power will be used at 100% and we will got a other awesome titles.2008: The Greatest Year For Gaming?
Every year is the greatest year for gaming.
What are some top notch gaming releases for 2k8? I'm looking forward only to DMC4, GTA IV, SW: Force Unleashed and Banjo3
Every year there are new standards set so therefore the year of gaming. This yer saw some greats next years line-up sounds awesome with GTA4, Mercenaries 2, KOTOR 3 and with the next gen consoles and online being used to its maximum we should be in for a great ride.
2007 has turned out pretty lacklustre considering all the ''big'' releases. Many of them were quite overhyped while the actually good games don't even get recognised. 2008 is going to be a spectacular year with StarCraft II and Spore but nothing will ever beat 1998... nothing.

it's hard to tell. 2008 has some big potential, but 2007 was absolutely amazing. the only issue was that most of the amazingness was compacted into the last couple of months.
2008 is gonna be a great year for gaming. DMC 4 and MGS 4 just to name a few are gonna be the big titles to look foward to no doubt.

Games are the new ''Blockbusters.'' Companies spend more money on ad campaigns than the actual game.

Assuming that the games actually stick to their release dates, 2008 looks to be more spread out in terms of huge releases.
Alan Wake comes out in 2008. 2008 will be the greates year for gaming (confirmed)

It's gonna be close I have to say.

I am addicted to the Fusion aspect of it. =)For me personally it seems like a decent year. I have yet to play many of the games still.Though, Portal was fun. Cod4 looks like something I will enjoy. I still want to try out STALKER, CRYSIS and The Witcher (which will look good, and the latter 2 even better with patches). Team Fortress 2 looks good. I want to try out World in Conflict, since it's easy for beginners to get into, plus no resource collecting. I don't have next gen systems so I haven't really looked at trailers or gameplay videos. Though Assassins Creed looks good.So I feel it's a pretty good year, and I still have a lot of games to try out.
It was a good year with the release of Halo and other big 'uns. In particlar a game that had been waited for, for years Halo 3 was bigged up to more than it actually was. Other greats Crysis, CoD4 they had a lot of pressure on them to be all they had been spoke about but weren't true their good but from what we read there wasn't going to a need for any other game.Plus in 2008 we still have to remember the amount of delays there are going to be it's a new console set a new system these games are going to have to be tampered with I've been told today that GTA 4 has already been delayed from February to June/July.
Damn, wasn't 07 enough? Halo 3, Assassin's Creed, Metroid Prime, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, and there's more to name.
2007 will be a really hard act to follow.Blue Dragon
Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles
Eternal Sonata
Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary
Final Fantasy II 20th Anniversary
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Forza Motorsport 2 (GotY contender)
Growlanser: Heritage of War
Sega Rally Revo
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 (GotY contender)
Sonic Rush Adventure
Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection
Virtua Fighter 5 (GotY contender)One of the best years in quite awhile, right here.
If Spore, Starcraft II, and Dragon Age all make it out next year and actually live up to expectations, then next year could definitely be one of the better years in a awhile.Another thing, this year seemed to be filled with titles that were majorly overhyped, and though good, did not seem to meet everyones expectations of being the second coming of gaming.......and though next year is also has it's share of with big name hyped titles such are MGS4, GTA IV, Starcraft II, and Ninja Gaiden 2, it also seems to have a fair share of niche titles that I think will surprise a lot of people in terms of the quality they deliver, games like Mafia 2, Sins of a Solar Empire, Brutal Legend, and others may actually end up being the real stars of the year.
2007 has been great, but 2008 should be great aswell with games like starcraft 2 and fallout 3.
