The Speculation of Diablo 3

Well the announcement is out, Diablo 3 is a go from Blizzard. Got ya! :D Anyway, the announcement of another Mmog has been made. From Blizzard. Blizzard fans quiver at the very sight of the words. What does this mean? Diablo 2 was and continues to be, played and picked up from new people every day. Though Blizzard doesn't support it directly, they keep servers up and playable to this day, which says something to players of the game. I may piss and moan about some things about the game, but for the most part, D2 has been a prominent staple of my library. The reason I opt to play this over other games that are available are relatively simple. The game is as addictive as it is enjoyable. Other online games require endless hours of planning and objectives etc. Diablo only asks simplicity and enjoyment. (Though hell mode would have you believe differently)On to the point, Blizzard is being mum on details of the game. Wisely so. Blizzard, in my opinion, has been and will continue to be, one of the best game makers past present and future. The reason is in my opinion, that they don't want to release a title without knowing that it is the very best it can be on day one. I have much respect for companies that do this because on the other side of the argument, games that receive endless publicity and endorsements can sometimes produce a bad game. I was a tad disappointed when some of the heads of the company left and did Hellgate: London, but so be it. As much as I refuse to support pay-for-play on the internet, for those of you that do, you have made Blizzard what it is today.D3 has been asked for since D2 came out. As much as I know that it isn't guaranteed at this point, I'd like to invest a little faith in the idea that they might be contemplating making the much anticipated sequel. What are your thoughts? The Speculation of Diablo 3
I think there is too much talk about this for it not to be happening. Speculations or not, it will happen and even if they release no information at all, that only makes the day of getting it and busting it open for the first time all the more worth while. After a game as solid as D2, the worst thing that could happen is it is a basic repeat with a story change of some sort. Which would still make it a great game. The worst thing in my opinion would be the cost being outrageous, which doesn't affect a lot of people these days anyway. The only thing we can do is wait and see anyway. The Speculation of Diablo 3
I just hope Diablo 3 won't be an MMOG unless they really change the formula because MMO games today aren't very good. I mean, they're addictive and satisfying but not really enjoyable, in my opinion. It's just an arm's race - and it feels too much like a chore, like work - in games like World of Warcraft because gear matters so much. Also, they need to make combat different. Make melee combat like it is in Assassin's Creed because when you're holding a massive axe in your hand and strike even a heavily armored guy who doesn't block you, it's really stupid that he doesn't even stumble. In reality the axe would get stuck in his body and you'd have to pull it out and there would be blood everywhere. That's what I'd like to see. Although that applies to all single-player RPGs too. Also, more depth! More mysteries, more **** to do that you have to stray off your path and explore random locations to find. I REALLY hope none of the RPG developers take Mass Effect as their role model because less of everything except dialog and graphics is not the direction we want to be going in. Sorry for butting in a Mass Effect diss but I wanted to say it.
I think it was gamesradar...that had a speculation that if Diablo 3 were to be made, it would most likely be extreamly combat and PVP centric, with possibly no online fees...similarly to guild wars....to put it out of direct competition with WOW.
Where is the source about that D3 new?
I think you guys mis-understood what MMORPG means, Diablo 2 was a mmorpg :P. It doesnt necesarily mean that they will copy paste world of warcraft with a diablo theme, but i rather guess it will be a Diablo 2 remake, with player made ''rooms'' set objectives etc, ofc it has to have something more than that to keep the people playing but damn, some people still play diablo 2, gonna also guess its with awsome graphics a supreme storyline and flawless cinematics...well.. thats what blizzard is famous anyway.Cant wait it to kick the face of Hellgate London who tried shamelessly to make the ''Diablo 3'' before it was originaly out, but blah blah..Only time.. will tell..
I agree with Kniterait, blizzard indeed will not damage its reputation, if D3 will see the light it will be a great game for sure even if it will use some their existing games technologies..

ehh no it wasnt. it was an online hack and slash rpg. it wasnt massiveat all either. the world was not persistant. there was nothing mmorpg about it really.
Blizzard has been talking about a new MMO franchise project for quite some time.......what's funny is how some people automatically take this to mean that they are abandoning their single player projects, which couldn't be farther from the truth.I remember when rumblings of a new MMO franchise first started about a year and a half ago.....and you had people claiming that it meant Starcraft II wouldn't happen and that instead Blizzard would only release a Starcraft MMO....of course those people were quickly silenced once Starcraft II was officially announced, as a single player game. Now you have those same people claiming that Blizzard's upcoming MMO franchise will somehow stop them from making single player games like a possible Diablo III.....here is the thing those people don't consider.....Over the past year or so, Blizzard has been adding prominent writers, designers, and developers of Single Player PC RPGs to their roster for some unannounced PC project code-named Hydra.....guys like Leonard Beyorsky, one of the key Black Isle guys who created Fallout and who later went on to form Troika and design games like Arcanum and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. In a way similiar to how back in 2004 and early 2005 Blizzard was adding prominant designers of single player Strategy games to their roster for a then unnamed project....which we now know is Starcraft II.

Just one giant, persistant world. Diablo 2 had instanced versions of its world for a small group of players. Very, very different.
The game is going to be World of Lost Rock 'N Roll Viking Racing: Wirt's Fury.Really, a Starcraft game is known to be coming out already, it's been seemingly forever since Diablo 2, and Blizzard seems content to stick with their three big IPs until the end of time, so Diablo Something seems a likely candidate. It won't be here until probably 2011 though, so I'm not too concerned about it right now. ;)
As long as its not an MMORPG im very excited, I was addicted to D2 for years before I gave it up.
i can only imagine what it will be like with the technology at the creators disposal during its release. one can only dream for now
Diablo 3 would be awesome, especially with the resources available to Blizzard these days.
A friend and I discussed whether or not this would be pay-for-play or not. I said that there is no basic reason why it would be if its going to come out and attempt to compete with Guild Wars. A free Diablo 3 game is a mighty tempting proposition to Guild Wars fans, especially if its done well and has the subtle nuance of the originals.
