A great, yet puzzling thing about the xbox

I just discovered that I can change most games' language by changing the xbox language in the settings menu. That's awesome, because italian/french/german-translated games generally stink like a pile of dead guinea pigs. What puzzles me, though, is: if they made the effort to put both the english version and the localized version on the same dvd, why couldn't they make a language selection menu in the game itself instead of resetting the console every time to change it? Also, when switching language, why do I lose saved games in some games and keep them in others?Anyway, this is a great feature. First time I've seen it done.A great, yet puzzling thing about the xbox
I guess that is how the game is made for losing data. but mabey you have that data when you go back to play on a different language. I'm not sure because i don't have a testbox please fix me but my friends do so yah.A great, yet puzzling thing about the xbox

They are not detected when you load another language and get back when you reload the original one.
This applies to some games only: Mace Griffin, Headhunter, The Hobbit and Splinter Cell suffer from this (bug?), while Halo and Half-Life 2 retain saved games.
Yeah
Yeah
Hell, Yeah
i don't know cause i only speak english
Actually this is usual since years...if you want to do the same choice in the beginning of a game again and again...I don磘.It磗 like the stupid 50Hz/60Hz question...Who wants to play in 50Hz???

Yes it's annoying to get a first screen menu with a bunch of flags to choose from, I'd rather go for a 'language' voice in the main options menu, so you'll use it only if you need it. About the 50hz/60hz thing, I agree: consoles should autodetect your tv hardware and choose the best performance, personal computers have been doing that for decades now.Although I think the games on sale in the US don't contain any languages other than english. I'd apreciate it if someone of you guys could check it out and let me know: just change the xbox language to, say, french, load a few games and see if it changes language (pretty please, anybody?).

Are you kidding me? I had no idea. That's pretty cool.
